Going to Eureka

We got invited to go to Eureka today with Austin's girlfriends family to go and get pine nuts. The kids were so excited, well so was I, we didn't know what to expect. We wore grubby clothes, gloves and I got bandannas for the girls' hair and we brought buckets for the pine cones. The kids dove in head first finding pine cones with excitement.
Bailey and Owen both climbed trees, Owen made it to the very top of one tree that was about 30 feet tall.

Oakley was such a good baby, he just cuddled his blanky and slept most of the time, even going over the rough terrain in the stroller.

Owen rode the four wheeler with some of the cousins and Grandpa to find more pine cones

Off to more trees

This stop the little kids started getting distracted. They started hunting for bones instead of pine cones

Even the bigger people started getting burned out

Reagan played with Grayson and Owen climbed a tree with Bryson

On the way down from the tree Owen fell a little bit and got pretty scratched up, he was done for the day. Bailey and Morgan were covered in sap and pine needles. They were exhausted and ready to go too.
Even Reagan started having a melt down

We had fun but it was hot and sticky but we are going to have tons of yummy pine nuts from our adventure today!

  1. We did that when I was younger and I still remember it. What a fun memory for your kids. And I'm totally jealous that you have fresh pinenuts!(:
