Bruce's deer

Bruce drew out for a deer tag this year.  Things didn't start out very well.  The first night they were camping, they decided to go and scout out some areas because the hunt didn't start until the next morning.  It had started raining but they were okay with getting a little wet and muddy.  They went all the way up the mountain looking around and they were on the way back down when they got stuck.  Bruce, his brother, and one of his friends got out and tried to push the truck out while another friend was driving.  They used broken tree limbs under the tires for traction but it wasn't working.
Finally Bruce spotted some other hunters on 4 wheelers and he was able to flag them down.  They were able to get them unstuck.  They were on their way back to camp and they got stuck again!  This time they came across some guys on a Rhino who tried to pull them out but they just couldn't, they were too stuck.  They guys gave them a ride back to camp where Bruce's truck was.
They headed down the canyon because Bruce's brother has a neighbor who had a rock crawler.  They went back up the canyon and got the truck unstuck at 4:00 am!!  They went back to camp and slept for a few hours.  By then more storms had come in and they decided to just pack up and head home because they were all covered from head to toe in mud.
He road hunted for the next few days but the hunt was only five days long so time was running out.  He was getting discouraged.  His buddy (the one who got stuck) invited him to go on him Grandpa property up Diamond Fork Canyon on the last day of the hunt.  Bruce was reluctant to go but I told him that if he didn't go he would regret it.
He finally decided to go.  His buddy saw a two point and Bruce told him to take a shot and it and he would back him up. Well his friend nailed it.  Then suddenly Bruce spotted a two by three and took a shot and dropped it!  He was so excited!

His confidence was restored and we have another year supply of deer jerky just as our last bag was eaten!

  2. Awesome. I grew up with hunters, I even went on the hunts with them. I loved it! Now though, since my husband doesn't hunt and I haven't for more than 11 years...these pictures kinda grossed me out!!! Ha ha! I'm glad your hubby bagged him some jerky!
