The effects of hand-foot-mouth disease

In May, Oakley got hand-foot-mouth disease.  It mostly got his feet and a little on his hands.  Well about six weeks later his fingernails and toenails started peeling off.  I took him to the doctor and he said that it was common with this strain of hand-foot-mouth for the nails to fall off.  They seemed painful and we kept them trimmed down as they were coming off.  But, thankfully, soon new nails came in.
