On May 16th the third grade was finally able to compete in the Hershey track meet. Morgan was so excited, her teacher this year was really into sports and had formed a running club to get the kids ready for the track meet. Initially it was just for her class, then the whole third grade, then there was so much interest that the whole school was invited to participate in the running club. There were even a few times that Reagan would go over to the school and practice with them!
So when the first track meet was cancelled because of the rain, Morgan was bummed, she wasn't sure that she would still get to compete this year. It was rescheduled and hoped for good weather. The day that it was rescheduled for was chilly but not rainy, they were good to go!
I wasn't going to go but when one of the mom's dropped off her little one after going to the track meet and told me that Morgan took 1st in the 50 yard dash in her heat and that she was going to compete in the finals soon. I hurried and put Oakley and another little one down for their naps, left Bruce in charge and ran over to the High School with Reagan where the track meet was being held.
Within five minutes of being there I got to see Morgan run in the 100 yard dash and she took 1st again in her heat! She was amazing! I stayed for about an hour and a half waiting for the finals but then Bruce called and Oakley wouldn't stop crying so I had to leave early.
Morgan went on to compete in the final for both the 50 yd dash and the 100 yard dash. She ended up taking 2nd overall in the 50 yard dash! She is my little runner. I hope that she always keeps the passion for running because she is so fast!
Way to go Mugs! We love you!
