The first snow of the year

Our first snow fall was a big one!  We had about fifteen inches, if not more, if there wasn't school that day it would have been cancelled!  Oakley wasn't interested in coming outside and Bailey was just fine to stay inside and help with Rowan.  I helped Morgan, Owen and Reagan get dressed and we shoveled the driveway.  Afterward they all wanted to play in the snow where they practically got buried!  Everyone started building a tunnel down in the cul-de-sac so the kids headed down there.  They had fun sliding down the hill and going through the tunnel.  I think we are ready for winter!

Owen's Pinewood Derby car

I don't know who was more excited about the Pinewood derby, Owen or Dad! Owen knew for sure he wanted the Batmobile but Dad wasn't sure he was going to be able to be at a saw, with his back hurting again, and help with the precise cuts that it required to make it look the way he would like it to look.  So we purchased a kit.  It still took a lot of sanding on Owen's part.  Dad taught him how to sand and spray paint.  They had to chisel out the bottom of the car to fit in the weights.  Owen carefully put the stickers on in the right places.  They had to make sure the wheels straight and smooth so they would glide. Now he just needs to race it!

Happy New Year 2013!!!

We had a great time ringing in the New Year this year!  Cami, Clint and Ellie came over and brought party favors.  We also had TONS of yummy food to eat!  We played games and when it was time to celebrate we went outside and blew on some horns and lit some sparklers.  We found out a few years ago that if you stick a lit sparkler in the snow, it stays lit and makes the snow glow!!  Pretty cool!  We had someone who lives close by who was doing some aerial fireworks so it gave us a nice show.  It was a great night and a great way to start out the New Year!
