Grandma got an awesome pool just in time for the family reunion. The only problems was, it was just in time...The pool arrived on the 19th and was set up that night and Grandma started filling it, 12 1/2 hours later the pool was finally filled, with freezing cold water! Grandma put the cover over, which is supposed to help warm it, and another piece of black sheeting over it to attract the sun and try to warm the pool as fast as possible. Still by the evening of the 21st, after we had been to all of the museums all day long, the pool was still pretty cold. It didn't stop all the kids, except for Aarynn and Lily, because they weren't there yet, and Lahni, Scotland, Mayah and Hannah.
Even though it was cold, everyone had a blast! I don't know who came up with the idea but the adults who got in, Andy, Nathan, Alberto and Rachel, all started going one way to make a whirlpool and then they would suddenly change directions. They all would have kids attached to them in some way so no kids would go under...too much, but doing this made them work their muscles so they could stay warmer.
We got in again the next day, but I forgot to take pictures, but the water was warmer and the sun was hotter so the kids' lips didn't turn quite so purple so fast! We are so glad Grandma got this pool! We need to go over and play in it again!
