For Austin's birthday this year he really wanted to go to the Sand Dunes. And he really wanted us to go too. It was perfect weather, at first we had to wear jackets but as the day wore on we just needed t-shirts. It was a little hard and rocky where we were parked but it was just a short walk to perfectly soft sand.
The kids had so much fun climbing up the hill and then running back down.
When they got tired of that, everyone decided to make sand angels.
The girls headed back to camp but Owen and Oakley weren't ready to head back yet.
Oakley was so confused that when he picked up a handful of sand that it was gone by the time he stood up!
Soon the girls came back looking for us. So we all went back to camp.
We had a visit from the sheriff and the sandbulance. Brian had some problems with his bike not being registered. But they let the kids sit in the sandbulance and told them that this better be the only time they are in it. They don't like seeing people hurt. I think Austin had a great birthday and I'm glad that we went!
